|Kinder Kids take SReYA|
The School Readiness Year End Assessment (SReYA) was administered to Kindergarten kids of DepED Silay City last March 8,2013, District 1 and III. The test’s main objective is to assess the readiness of kindergarten pupils who will be incoming Grade 1 this school year 2013-2014. The result will also be the baseline data for school officials in conducting interventions and programs to improve the performance of the pupils and to master the skills and the 7 domains for kindergarten.
The test is 30 items and should be conducted by the Kindergarten teachers with the assistance of Grade 1 teachers. Nos. 1-10 is for group performance while 11-30 is for individual pupils.
Prior to the administration, Kindergarten teachers and their school heads were oriented on the mechanics of the test last march 5 at the Civic Center. Mrs. Marjorie B. Bastida, EPS English, Kindergarten and MTB-MLE coordinator of the division with the Mrs. Sally Senayo, P3, SNES and Ma. Theresa Dioso, Kindergarten teacher trained the participants with simulation of the SReYA. The Kindergarten teachers were given materials which will be utilized in the conduct of the test.
After the test, Kinder teachers were amused with some of the responses of the kids. The schema and the bottom-up theories played important roles based on the varied responses of the kids. A K teacher showed a table with missing part asked a pupil, “Ano ang kulang sa lamisa?” the kid answered…”PAGKAON.”
Though quite strenuous and time consuming, the teachers and their aides enjoyed conducting the test because of the unexpected answers of the test-takers. The test was done for more than 2 hours per batch of 15 pupils.
The Public Schools District Supervisors as chief examiners will consolidate the results of their respective district based on the submitted results of the Room Supervisors, the school heads. (by: MBBastida)
