La Carlota City is located in Negros Occidental and 45 kilometers from Bacolod City. It is one of the country’s smallest cities in terms of geographical area which is 13,729 hectares. In the last four years, La Carlota has held the title as the “cleanest and greenest” city among its category.
La Carlota City is a beautiful city in the vicinity of Mt. Kanlaon. The city’s street are lined with flowering shrubs and eucalyptus trees. La Carlota features the beautiful Guintubdan Resort and the Mt. Kanlaon with its waterfalls, dictocarps, and flowers that rival the blooms of Baguio City. Mt. Kanlaon rises to 5,000 feet above sea level, from whose height one can see Bacolod City and the Guimaras Strait.
The economy of La Carlota City is based on the sugarcane industry.
Some world-renowned boxers such as “Little Dado”, Small Montano and Pancho Villa grew and trained in La Carlota. The Taekwondo Team from La Carlota City was selected to represent the Philippines in the World Taekwondo Championship Games in August, 1999.
La Carlota was a grand slam winner in the field of arts and was the best in booth design, costume and dance presentation during the 1997 Panaad Festival-a harvest season festival in Negros Occidental.
