The public school system in the Municipality of Kabankalan began with the establishment of KabankalanElementary School in the early 1900s, under Mr. Geronimo Abada (fondly called Maestro Emong) as the first supervising teacher, and other barrio schools in  Binicuil, Talubangi, and Salong  where pupils and teachers  were housed in nipa shacks.
