HISTORICAL BACKGROUND Print
             The DepEd, Division of Aklan started its operation under the supervision of the Bureau of Education,  Division of Capiz which was then  headed by the Assistant to the Superintendent as In-Charge of Aklan.  It was separated from the Division of Capiz on March 16, 1958 with Mr. Catalino Pestaño as the first Schools Division Superintendent.

             The Division of Aklan was first organized with  17 districts,  each headed by a District Supervisor.  Setting the pace for the Division of Aklan’s progress is its dynamic leadership of School Division Superintendent and DepEd Aklan family members presently composed of  19 Districts, 323 elementary schools,  69 secondary schools and 66  private schools.   It is presently located at Arch. Reyes Street,  Kalibo,  Aklan.
